  • Forwarder accounting✓ multi-currency
  • Rate mgmt
  • Ocean & air✓ both
  • Tracking
  • Customer portal✓ CRM included
  • CRM
Pros and cons

What works

  • Built as one product for four roles at once, freight forwarder, customs broker, importer, and NVOCC, so a business that is more than one of those is not adapting a forwarder-only platform to fit
  • Native multi-currency invoicing and financial reporting sit in the same system as operations, alongside real-time cargo tracking, multi-modal shipment management, rate management, dashboard analytics, and a built-in logistics CRM, so the file, the money, and the customer record are not three separate tools
  • Multi-warehouse management is native, covering inbound and outbound operations and inventory visibility across more than one facility, and ISF and customs compliance tooling is built in rather than bolted on

What to watch

  • The AI story is roadmap, not proof; CargoEZ's own site still reads 'AI Native Freight Software Coming Soon,' so anything presented as AI-powered should be validated live on your own data before you count on it, not taken as a shipped, benchmarked capability
  • The 4.8/5 across 40 G2 reviews checks out live, but 40 reviews is still a small sample next to the thousands behind CargoWise or Descartes, so treat it as an early, promising signal rather than a mature track record
  • Independent evidence beyond that G2 figure is thin compared with the established platforms in this comparison; G2 itself lists implementation at under one month, fast, but drawn from the same small review base
#2

Magaya Supply Chain

Best for US mid-market forwarders who also run their own warehouse

Score9.1
Rating4.4/5 G2, 281 reviews

  • Customs filing✓ US focus
  • Warehouse✓ native
  • Forwarder accounting✓ job costing
  • Rate mgmt✗ add separate
  • Ocean & air✓ both
  • Tracking
  • Customer portal
  • CRM✗ add separate
Pros and cons

What works

  • 281 G2 reviews at 4.4/5 is by far the largest verified review base in this comparison, with 67% of reviewers rating it five stars, and that volume from actual forwarders is the strongest evidence signal available in a category where most vendors have under 100 reviews
  • Warehouse management is native rather than an integration, which matters enormously for the very common US forwarder-plus-CFS-warehouse business model; receiving, cargo release, and inventory live in the same system as the ocean file
  • Forwarder accounting is built in, covering job costing, profit per file, multi-currency, and AR and AP, so a mid-sized forwarder does not run its financials in a parallel system that disagrees with operations

What to watch

  • The interface has improved across recent releases but still reads as older than the cloud-native platforms; forwarders coming from GoFreight or a modern SaaS tool notice it, and it is a recurring theme in reviews
  • Magaya does not publish a rate card, and third-party research placing the entry near $300/user/mo is an estimate rather than a quoted price, so budgeting requires a sales conversation
  • Strongest in the Americas; forwarders needing customs filing depth across many European or Asian jurisdictions get more coverage from CargoWise or Descartes
#3

CargoWise

Best for global forwarders running customs in many countries

Score9.0
Rating4.3/5 G2, 30 reviews

ImplementationMultiple quarters
8 modules compared
  • Customs filing✓ dozens of countries
  • Warehouse
  • Forwarder accounting✓ native, deep
  • Rate mgmt✓ rating engine
  • Ocean & air✓ both
  • Tracking
  • Customer portal
  • CRM
Pros and cons

What works

  • Deepest customs and compliance coverage in the category by a distance, spanning dozens of national customs regimes in one platform, which is why most of the largest global forwarders standardize on it rather than stitching together country-level systems
  • Single database across forwarding, customs, warehouse, land transport, and accounting means a global forwarder gets one version of a shipment across every office, instead of regional systems that reconcile monthly
  • Functional depth is genuinely unmatched; if a workflow exists in international forwarding, CargoWise has a configuration for it, which is the honest reason it wins enterprise evaluations even when buyers dislike the experience

What to watch

  • Implementation is the hardest in this comparison, routinely measured in quarters, and it demands internal expertise or a specialist consultancy; forwarders underestimate this cost more often than any other line in the business case
  • 30 G2 reviews at 4.3/5 is a thin community base for a platform of this market position, and reviewers consistently rate feature depth higher than ease of use or support responsiveness
  • Pricing is transaction and module based with no published rate card, and the total scales with shipment volume in a way that catches growing forwarders out at renewal
#4

GoFreight

Best for small-to-mid US forwarders and NVOCCs wanting fast, modern cloud software

Score8.8
Rating4.8/5 G2, 88 reviews

  • Customs filing✓ US focus
  • Warehouse
  • Forwarder accounting
  • Rate mgmtNot documented
  • Ocean & air✓ both
  • Tracking
  • Customer portal✓ customer + agent
  • CRMNot documented
Pros and cons

What works

  • Implementation in roughly 4 to 8 weeks rather than the quarters CargoWise and Descartes require, which changes the business case completely for a forwarder that cannot dedicate a project team to a software rollout
  • Built cloud-native for ocean and air import and export with the NVOCC workflows included, so security filing, house and master bill handling, and arrival notices are core rather than configured
  • Covers the full operational span for a mid-sized forwarder in one platform, including quotation, warehouse, container tracking, customer portal, and accounting, with the vendor citing more than 1,000 customers and 6,000 daily users

What to watch

  • The 4.8/5 across 88 G2 reviews figure is vendor-cited from March 2026 and we could not independently verify it, which is exactly the kind of number buyers should confirm on the live G2 page before it influences a decision
  • Reviewers report the system slowing during peak periods, which is a meaningful operational complaint for a forwarder whose busiest hours are precisely when documentation has to move
  • Customs coverage is US-centric; forwarders needing entry filing across European or Asian jurisdictions will find the depth well short of CargoWise or Descartes
#5

Descartes Forwarder Enterprise Suite

Best for forwarders needing customs and compliance depth without a CargoWise program

Score8.5
RatingNo verified score, 57 reviews
Entry priceCustom quote
ImplementationMultiple quarters
8 modules compared
  • Customs filing✓ category strength
  • Warehouse• via network
  • Forwarder accounting
  • Rate mgmt• via network
  • Ocean & air✓ both
  • Tracking✓ via network
  • Customer portal
  • CRMNot documented
Pros and cons

What works

  • Customs, security filing, and trade compliance are the Descartes core competency across a very large installed base, and the Forwarder Enterprise Suite inherits that rather than treating compliance as one module among many
  • Sits inside the broader Descartes network, so a forwarder can add carrier tracking, rate procurement, global trade content, and e-commerce shipping under one vendor relationship instead of running four evaluations
  • Descartes Systems Group carries 4.6/5 across 2,139 G2 reviews spanning its product portfolio, which is a meaningful signal about the company's delivery and support even though it is not a rating of this product alone

What to watch

  • Only 57 G2 reviews for the Forwarder Enterprise Suite itself, and no product-level star rating we could verify, so the evidence for this specific platform is thinner than the parent company's portfolio numbers suggest
  • Module-based pricing with nothing published, and the modular structure means the platform that solves your problem is usually three or four modules rather than one, which makes early quotes misleading
  • The breadth of the Descartes portfolio makes product boundaries genuinely confusing during evaluation; buyers regularly discover mid-cycle that a capability they assumed was included is a separate product
#6

Logistaas

Best for small forwarders who want the lowest published per-user price

Score8.2
Rating4.5/5 Capterra, 33 reviews
Entry priceFrom $45/user/mo
Implementation1 to 3 weeks
8 modules compared
  • Customs filing• limited
  • Warehouse• limited
  • Forwarder accounting• top plan only
  • Rate mgmtNot documented
  • Ocean & air✓ both
  • TrackingNot documented
  • Customer portal
  • CRM✓ CRM plan
Pros and cons

What works

  • Publishes four per-user plans running from $45/user/mo for CRM Only to $85/user/mo for full digital forwarding with accounting, which makes it one of only two platforms here a small forwarder can budget without a sales cycle
  • The plan structure maps to real roles rather than arbitrary feature tiers, so a forwarder can put sales staff on the cheaper CRM plan and operations staff on the full plan instead of buying the top tier for everyone
  • Cloud-native and quick to deploy, which suits forwarders of 5 to 40 users who cannot absorb a long implementation and do not need customs filing across many jurisdictions

What to watch

  • 4.5/5 across 33 Capterra reviews is still one of the thinnest evidence bases of any platform ranked here, and the installed base is a fraction of Magaya's or CargoWise's, so a multi-year dependency carries more vendor risk than the price difference alone reflects
  • Functional depth in customs filing, warehouse operations, and complex multi-leg routing falls well short of the enterprise platforms, so growth into complex operations will eventually mean a migration
  • Regional coverage is narrower than the global platforms, and forwarders with meaningful volume outside its established markets should verify jurisdiction support explicitly before signing
#7

Logitude World

Best for very small forwarders who want simplicity and a known price

Score7.9
Rating4.5/5 Capterra, 40 reviews
Entry price$75/user/mo
ImplementationDays
8 modules compared
  • Customs filing• limited
  • Warehouse• limited
  • Forwarder accounting• basic
  • Rate mgmtNot documented
  • Ocean & air✓ both
  • TrackingNot documented
  • Customer portal
  • CRMNot documented
Pros and cons

What works

  • Publishes its plans openly at $75/user/mo for SMART and $99/user/mo for PROFESSIONAL, so a small forwarder can size the cost in an afternoon instead of running a three-week quote cycle
  • Deliberately simple interface that non-technical staff pick up quickly, which matters more than feature count at a small forwarder where nobody has time to run a training program
  • Fast rollout with no implementation project, so the gap between signing and actually working in the system is days rather than the quarters the enterprise platforms require

What to watch

  • The simplicity that makes it approachable is also the ceiling; customs filing, warehouse operations, and complex multi-leg or multi-currency scenarios are thin, and forwarders growing past roughly 25 users typically migrate
  • 4.5/5 across 40 Capterra reviews is a good score on a small base, and the reviewer mix skews heavily toward very small businesses, so buyers above roughly 25 users have little directly comparable feedback
  • Accounting depth is lighter than Magaya or Logistaas, which means a growing forwarder will likely still be maintaining a separate finance system rather than consolidating
#8

Freightos

Best for rate management and instant quoting alongside an FMS, not as one

Score7.6
Rating4.2/5 G2, 80+ reviews
Entry priceCustom quote
ImplementationWeeks
8 modules compared
  • Customs filing
  • Warehouse
  • Forwarder accounting
  • Rate mgmt✓ category strength
  • Ocean & air✓ both
  • Tracking• rate-level
  • Customer portalNot documented
  • CRMNot documented
Pros and cons

What works

  • Instant quoting against live ocean and air rates is the strongest capability of its kind in this comparison, and for forwarders competing on quote turnaround time it is a direct revenue lever rather than an efficiency one
  • 4.2/5 across more than 80 G2 reviews gives it a broader independent evidence base than several full FMS platforms here, which is unusual for a narrow tool
  • Rate management across carriers and contracts solves a problem that full FMS platforms handle poorly; the rate table is where most forwarders lose margin to stale or wrongly applied pricing

What to watch

  • Freightos is not a freight forwarding management system and does not pretend to be; it will not handle operations, documentation, customs filing, or accounting, so it is an addition to your stack rather than the foundation
  • Buyers regularly confuse the Freightos marketplace with the enterprise rate management products, and the two are priced and sold differently, so establish which one you are being quoted early
  • The rate advantage depends on carrier and contract coverage for your specific trade lanes, and a forwarder concentrated in niche lanes may find the live rate coverage thinner than the general pitch suggests
#9

Linbis

Best for startup and solo forwarders wanting an entry-level all-in-one

Score7.4
Rating5.0/5 Capterra, 3 reviews
Entry priceFrom $150/mo
ImplementationWeeks
8 modules compared
  • Customs filing• limited
  • Warehouse
  • Forwarder accounting
  • Rate mgmtNot documented
  • Ocean & air✓ both
  • Tracking
  • Customer portal
  • CRMNot documented
Pros and cons

What works

  • AI-assisted document generation is the standout: copy and paste shipment details and Linbis drafts the bill of lading, commercial invoice, and import notices in seconds, which is real time saved for a solo operator doing the paperwork alone
  • Bundles freight across air, ocean, and ground with warehouse and inventory management, a CRM, and accounting in one entry-level cloud platform, which is unusually broad for the price point
  • Publishes its pricing and offers a genuine free trial with no credit card, so a startup forwarder can size the cost and try the product without a sales cycle

What to watch

  • The thinnest independent evidence base of any platform ranked here, 0 reviews on G2 and only 3 on Capterra, so there is very little third-party feedback to weigh against the vendor's own claims
  • Aggregators and reviewers report customer-support responsiveness issues and surprise auto-renewal after the trial, so confirm support terms and the renewal clause in writing before you commit
  • Customs-brokerage depth and complex multi-jurisdiction workflows are lighter than the enterprise platforms, so a forwarder with real customs exposure will outgrow it

How these nine were shortlisted

We started with 21 platforms that get named in freight forwarding software searches and cut to the nine below. The twelve that did not make it were removed for specific reasons, not to keep the list tidy.

Wrong category, six platforms. Descartes Aljex, AscendTMS, and Alvys are domestic truckload and LTL broker systems; they do not handle ocean or air documentation, customs filing, or forwarder accounting, and they sit in our best TMS for freight brokers comparison instead. SAP TM and Oracle OTM are shipper-side enterprise transportation platforms rather than forwarder systems. Buyers land on all five while searching this category and then discover the mismatch three weeks into an evaluation.

Not an FMS, five platforms. project44 and FourKites track containers and shipments but do not run forwarding operations or produce documentation. Freightify handles rate procurement and quoting. Descartes MacroPoint and OneView are visibility layers forwarders bolt onto an existing system. All useful, none a replacement for a forwarding management system. Freightos is the one exception we kept in, flagged as a rates layer, because buyers so consistently ask whether it can replace an FMS. It cannot.

Real products, evidence too thin, two platforms. Shipthis is a credible cloud-native FMS for forwarders and NVOCCs and would likely rank if the public review base supported it. Fresa Gold has genuine deployments across Asia and the Middle East, with limited independent review presence and unclear published pricing. Both are worth a demo. Neither could be ranked honestly against the nine below.

What is left is the set buyers actually keep searching for and comparing against each other, which is the point of this page.

What the cards do not tell you

A comparison grid is good at showing which platforms clear a bar and bad at showing what clearing it costs. Four things sit underneath these cards.

Implementation is the widest real difference in this category. Days for Logitude World against multiple quarters for CargoWise and Descartes is not a difference of degree, it is a different kind of purchase. One is a software subscription. The other is a program with a project team, usually a certified partner, and a productivity dip longer than any vendor admits. Forwarders underestimate this line more often than any other in the business case.

Only three of nine publish a price. Logistaas from $45/user/mo, Logitude World from $75/user/mo, and Linbis from $150/mo. Everything else needs a sales conversation, and Magaya’s roughly $300/user/mo is third-party research rather than a quote. In a category this price-opaque, your negotiating position matters more than it does in most software purchases.

Review counts are not comparable across sources. Magaya’s 281 G2 reviews is the deepest evidence base here by a distance. Linbis sits at 5.0 across three Capterra reviews, which is a number you should essentially ignore. A perfect score on a tiny sample tells you nothing, and treating it as equivalent to 281 reviews is the most common mistake buyers make reading comparisons like this one.

Customs is a jurisdiction question, not a checkmark. “US focus” and “dozens of countries” describe genuinely different products. Filing an entry in Germany is a different system, format, and legal regime from filing in the US. Ask about your specific lanes, never about customs in general.

Filtering this down to a real shortlist

If you run a warehouse alongside forwarding, filter to native warehouse and you are left with CargoEZ, Magaya, CargoWise, GoFreight, and Linbis. That single question eliminates more options faster than price does.

If you file customs across several countries, the shortlist collapses to a single card. CargoWise is the only platform here covering dozens of national regimes, with Descartes the closest alternative on compliance depth. That is worth stating plainly because it is the one requirement no amount of budget flexibility works around.

If you need to be operational before peak season, sort implementation ascending and stop reading below two months. Logitude World, Logistaas, CargoEZ, GoFreight, Linbis, and Freightos all clear that bar. CargoWise and Descartes do not, and no amount of wanting them to will change it.

If budget certainty is the constraint, filter to published pricing. Three platforms, and only Logistaas and Logitude World are per-user plans a small forwarder can model directly.

Our read on the field

CargoEZ is our top pick at 9.2, covering forwarder, customs broker, importer, and NVOCC roles in one system with native multi-warehouse and multi-currency invoicing, live in under a month. Magaya is the safest choice on evidence, with 281 verified reviews nobody else approaches. CargoWise owns multi-country customs and nothing else here competes on it. GoFreight is the fast, modern option for US forwarders and NVOCCs, though verify its vendor-cited rating yourself.

Further down, Descartes suits forwarders whose primary risk is a customs entry filed wrong. Logistaas and Logitude World are the small-forwarder picks with real published prices. Freightos is a rate and quoting layer that runs alongside an FMS rather than replacing one. Linbis publishes a low entry price but its three-review base is too thin to lean on.

Full reasoning, pros and cons, pricing tiers, and verdicts for all nine are in the best freight forwarding software comparison. For head-to-heads, see CargoEZ vs CargoWise , CargoEZ vs Magaya , GoFreight vs CargoEZ , and the GoFreight vs Magaya vs CargoEZ three-way.
